Travel brazil a glimpse of beautiful south america

Brazil is the largest and most populated country in South America, and is fifth largest in the world in both area and population. Portuguese is the only official language of Brazil which is spoken by nearly the entire population. In fact, Brazil is the only country in the America’s in which Portuguese is their primary language. If you look at a map of Brazil, you can see that it borders almost every other South American country except Ecuador and Chile. Brazil is divided up into 5 regions. The North Region, which is by far the largest, Northeast Region, Center-west Region, South Region and the Southeast Region, home of the most famous and popular destinations Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. The capital of Brazil is Brasilia, and with 11 million plus people, Sao Paulo is its largest city. Sao Paulo Brazil is also one of the largest cities by area and population in the southern hemisphere. Brazil has a large selection of outdoor activities available for tourists and locals alike. You can hike, surf, dive, go rafting, play golf, volleyball, soccer, fish or virtually anything else you may want to do in the great outdoors you can do here in Brazil. Like most places in the world as of late, Cave exploring is now a very popular commode and with about 2, 800 registered Caves, the tourism industry has never been brighter. Brazil is, of course, is also home to over 60% of the Amazon Rainforest. The Rainforest itself has some 5.5 million kilometres in total size within 8 different countries. The Rainforest also has much wildlife and some species that even still have yet to be discovered. The very sad thing about this habitat is that by the year 2020, it is estimated that 50% of the Brazilian wildlife will become extinct!! It is so bad that since 1970, over 500 square kilometres have been lost in this beautiful forest. One more thing to remember while in Brazil is that street violence in certain areas of the major cities could get very harsh and dangerous. Don’t let this stop you from going to go visit a remarkable place, just be cautious. Make sure you don’t bring a lot of money with you at one time, don’t walk around at night in places you don’t know and if possible travelling in groups is a great idea. It is also a good idea to make sure you ALWAYS have a photo ID on you. The Brazilian police can ask for such things anytime, and you don’t want to constantly have your passport on you. A photocopy is a must have, so be sure you carry those around and leave the original in a safe place. Whether you are looking for a beautiful beach, a glimpse of the absolutely stunning Amazon Rainforest, or the mile high sky scrapers in downtown Sao Paolo, Brazil has a little something to offer to any travel adventurer.

4X4 tips for beginners

Congratulations on taking the plunge and hiring a 4X4 for an awesome off-road African adventure! As a newbie to the wonderful world of 4-wheel drive, you’ll fall into one of two camps – those who think they know it all already, and those who are totally terrified and have no idea how to handle ‘their’ Camel-man-mobile safely, let alone get the best out of it! This article is for you, whichever side you fall; never be too proud or too petrified to learn, for your sake and the sake of your passengers and fellow off-road track users. Speed & Momentum If you hit a spot of trouble DON’T accelerate – it can get you into a worse position. Slow down and take it easy – this helps you to keep traction and your tyres will work for you instead of spinning aimlessly. When approaching an obstacle, you need momentum. The trick is to start a little way back to gain the momentum you need. This is a skill which you will master over time. Limits Don’t try new tricks when you’re out alone. Test your limits when you’re with more experienced drivers. Mud Use a stick to test a new mud hole for depth and softness. Remember a soft hole can prove impossible to escape! Enter the mud hole with a little momentum and if you feel that you’re getting stuck turn the wheel left to right to gain traction. Once you’ve gone as far forward as you can try reverse out. Windows Keep the windows up to avoid a mud shower or a face full of dust. Stuck If you are truly stuck, try letting a little air out of your tyres for better traction and when you get out of the ditch don’t forget to fill them up again. Stalling If you stall with your tailpipe under water, get towed out and pull the spark plugs before starting the engine again. A cylinder full of water can destroy an engine. When the plugs are out, however, the water will be safely ejected. Obstacles Go slowly over obstacles. Pull the hand brake a little for tension on the drive line to slow the vehicle and enable you to accelerate gently over. Steering Always hold the steering wheel with thumbs out when you’re off-road. If you hit a ditch or obstacle the wheel could spin too fast and hurt your thumbs. Keeping them out helps prevent injury. Keep your hands and arms inside the truck to avoid accidents. Tools & Spares Keep the following with you: A hi-lift jack Steel wire Spare tyre and plug kit Safety Wear a safety belt Don’t travel alone Have a cell phone on you Don’t drink alcohol when driving Get back on the tar road before dark Give fellow 4X4 drivers on the track plenty of space Don’t race or churn up the soil needlessly. Respect Respect the land, the other people using the trail and the vehicle! Douse campfires, don’t litter (this includes cigarette butts), stick to trails so as to avoid damaging the plant life. Leave your ego at home and remember it’s about having fun!

Hassle free backpacking in europe

Thinking about going backpacking in Europe alone, with your sweetie, or a buddy? Instead of just grabbing your backpack and hopping on the first plane out to a random European country, it’s worth your while to plan a little bit ahead and figure out what you need in order to have a successful, hassle-free, and exciting European backpacking trip. Pick a Destination Some people choose to go into Europe blindly without a plan or destination in mind, but it’s best if you have an idea of where you’d like to go backpacking. Some stick to Western Europe, some to Eastern Europe, some traverse the entire continent on a rail pass, and others explore one or two countries more intimately. Your destination(s) will also determine your budget, gear, and other factors. Budget Make sure to plan an overall budget for your backpacking trip. Your budget will include your flight, your gear (all the stuff you need to buy before you go), and your “living expenses” by the day, which will include food, accommodations, and activities. Around $40 USD is fairly realistic, but this will vary from country to country and even city to city. Do some research to find out how much it will cost you in the countries/cities you wish to visit. Find out the exchange rate as well, and keep a journal of your expenses. Get your Gear Think you can go backpacking in Europe with nothing but the shirt on your back? Think again. There are a few fundamental elements you’ll need to take with you on your backpacking trip. First and foremost, a durable, high-quality, side-loader backpack that fits you is a must. You’ll also need several travel shoes (you’ll be doing a lot of walking), a money belt (with your money), all your necessary travel documents, a European guidebook and phrasebook, a journal, a camera, a water bottle, camping gear (if applicable), and more (neck pillow, basic clothing, a few toiletries). Accommodations & Transportation Hostels are the accommodations of choice for backpackers in Europe. Try to make arrangements (at least some) ahead of time. This way you’ll be able to find the best deals and you’ll have a spot reserved for you. Look for cheap flights to Europe (search online or go through your travel agent)—student travel agencies and student airfare finders are great places to start. Get a rail pass when you’re in Europe, especially if your backpacking adventure takes you through several countries. Subways make a great option, too. Learn Lingo Although much of Europe speaks English as a second (or third or fourth or fifth) language, it’s helpful for you to learn a few key phrases in the languages of the countries you’ll be visiting.

Honoring the artist antonio gaudi in barcelona

Barcelona Spain has a great history, and people who live in the area have much room to brag about the beautiful place of which they live. Much of its history still stands throughout and can be admired by travelers and citizens alike. Still more culture and history is added in the Barcelona area even now. As well as its added culture, tourism has taken on a huge role as well throughout Barcelona. The best way to take advantage of all that this area has to offer on your vacation is to thoroughly plan ahead of time and arrive with your map in hand, and be ready to go. Find a suitable map that will give you not only directions, but also tell you details about hotels, festivals and celebrations, entertainment, and prominent exhibitions. If your looking for a more updated modern version of Barcelona, you would be doing yourself a benefit by going directly to Guell Park first thing. Nearly this whole area of natural space is filled with the great artist architecture of Antonio Gaudi, probably one of Spain’s most famous and celebrated artists. Gaudi made everyday things into artwork, including but not limited to balconies, walls as murals, entire buildings, as well as even benches into paintings. Be prepared to have couple roles of film on hand, because as soon as you fill your camera up on the aforementioned area, then comes the famous Gaudi work Sagrada Familia Church. This is one piece of artwork that has never stopped progression, being started in 1883 and not stopping until even the present day. Another great marvel of Barcelona s the Barcelona Zoo. This zoo is located in the Ciutadella Park, and is home to over 7500 different species of animals. While everyone has their favorite animal, is always the peculiar ones that get the most attention, especially from the children. Animals such as long nosed anteater or the miniature little hippo pygmy fit this bill exactly. However the feature that the zoo takes a ton of pride in is the primate section. You wont have to go very far to find even kangaroos, pelicans, and the good ole American Buffalo because the Barcelona Zoo has them all for your photographing pleasure. Since the weather is so agreeable, your trip to the zoo can be made any time throughout the year. If you’re lucky enough to go in the warmer of the warm seasons then you’ll enjoy the Aquarama Barcelona, which is the aquarium located inside the zoo. This will be your chance to see up-close the playful bottlenose dolphins and their shows which take place daily, as well as other marvels of the sea. Your money will also be going to a good cause as you spend around the park since this pays for the programs for preserving endangered species and captive breeding. Don’t forget too if your traveling with young curious children, or even if you yourself are curious that Barcelona is home to many fabulous museums such as museums that feature the work of Gaudi as well as Picasso. This will give your children some things to go back and tell there teachers about at school, as well as teach them to appreciate art and history at a young age. Your trip to Barcelona can and certainly will be a very beneficial vacation for both adults and children, letting each witness and learn some culture that will leave a lasting impression through their lives. Always travel safely, and squeeze every ounce of fun as you can out of your short time to visit.

Your adventure awaits on a cruise ship

When most of us think of the words cruise ship, we envision the Love Boat or the Titanic. Well, not all the time, but often that's the first thing that comes to mind. Actually, a cruise ship doesn't have to be that big, and many countries have their own cruise ship lines. A cruise ship is also called a luxury ship, but that doesn't mean that only rich people can sail on her. You may not find Gopher or Doc on board, but a cruise ship offers a unique way to travel at a slower pace so that you get to know your fellow passengers and are able to intermingle at various venues provided by cruise ship activity and entertainment directors. Airline or train travel doesn't allow for such pleasures, nor does driving. For anyone who hasn't been on a cruise ship, adventure awaits! A cruise ship is also called a passenger ship and is used for those seeking a pleasure voyage to various destinations around the world, from Tahiti to Rio, to the Canary Islands and Hong Kong. Today, a cruise ship line offers the best in travel comforts and perks. With a cruise ship, the entertainment on board is as important as the ultimate destination, and most cruise ship lines will make sure to schedule exciting events that will entertain various age groups. The very first cruise ship built expressly for the purpose of transporting vacationers from Point A to Point B was called the Prinzessin Victoria Luise. She was built in 1900. So began the age of transatlantic transportation that hit a rough spot after the sinking of the Titanic. Following that accident, Albert Ballin, the manager of Hamburg-America Line, made it a point to send his cruise ship captains across the North Atlantic is the worst winter weather to prove that the ill-fated sinking of the queen of all liners was not the norm, but rather an isolated incident. He succeeded, and other shipping lines followed his example. A cruise ship is equipped to withstand bad weather and is capable of sailing great distances to exotic ports of call or down your country's coastline. One of the most popular cruise ship destinations for world travelers is the Alaskan cruise, which offers delighted passengers sights and sounds that can't be seen anywhere else. There are many different kinds of cruise ship, and some are large, which others are only moderately so. Most come with affordable small to medium sized cabins, and a cruise ticket will generally include all the food and entertainment on board as well as tickets to events or locations listed on the ships port of call sightseeing lists. A cruise ship offers hotel style living, fine dining and even theatrical entertainment all in one place. Some cruise lines offer a cruise ship geared more toward the younger crowd, like Disney, while others offer nothing but exquisite elegance. Which cruise ship you choose will not only depend on your tastes, but your pocket book as well.

Tips for traveling with young kids

Are you taking a vacation with a baby or toddler and worried that it will be a hassle? Well, you’re right to worry but with a few tips and suggestions, your family vacation will be enjoyable for you and your young ones. If you’re planning on traveling by yourself with your child then consider asking for help from a friend or family member. The added cost of their company will more than pay for itself with the assistance that they’ll provide. If you’ll be traveling by car then try not to drive extended distances without stops. Plan rest stops about every two hours and consider staying the night at a midway point to give you and your baby a rest from the road. Travel by plane can also take its toll on adults and kids. Get your seats booked in advance and if possible, get a bulkhead seat. These seats have a wall in front of them and offer a bit of room for your child to move around. Airlines generally will let you pre-board with infants so you can get settled in your seats before the other passengers board. If air travel is more than a few hours then consider stopping off at a midway point along the way. Not only will it give you and your family a rest but you can take a day or two to discover an interesting destination. If you’re traveling with a young baby then make sure you bring plenty of the diaper changing essentials and bottles of formula or baby food. Regardless of age, pack things to keep children busy. If they’re young, bring rattles and teething rings. If they’re older then bring a new toy since old ones won’t keep them occupied for too long. Consider purchasing a portable DVD player so they can be kept busy watching their favorite program or cartoon. There are also children’s books that are accompanied by CD’s so your child can listen and read at the same time; not only will it keep them busy but it will also be educational. Coloring books sound like a good idea but coloring can be too much of a temptation to draw on tray tables and seats. Bring snacks since children often get hungry and thirsty and they tend to be finicky eaters. Don’t pack messy snacks and try to find food with low sugar. Pack lots of baby wipes; they come in handy for cleaning up messy faces and small spills. Holidays with babies and toddlers don’t have to be nightmares. With some preparation, planning some rests along the way and keeping them busy, you and your family can have an enjoyable vacation.

Taking a trip by sea

Summer cruises remain the most popular with both singles and families who have had enough of going to the same vacation rentals year after year. The kids are out of school, and most people just enjoy taking their vacation time when the weather is fine. And there is no shortage of destination options to choose from. don't be surprised if you spend many spare hours just trying to narrow down which of the cruises you want to take first. Perhaps you would like to take a trip from San Diego to Baja Mexico. Looking for something a little cooler? How about a trip from Vancouver to Alaska. Done those? Maybe it's time for something a little more unusual. Look for the smaller cruise ship offerings, they offer great accommodations while also offering great destinations that are too small for the larger ships. If you are looking in the area of the Adriatic and Mediterranean seas you will find a number of cruises that will take you to otherwise little-known destinations. Many people like to explore the South of France, others choose better-known locals like Venice or Dubrovnik. But if you are looking for something really different, look for stops at little islands such as Cres and Hvar. Want to know what it would have been like to be a Viking? Consider a cruise around the Norwegian Fjords. These cruises tend to leave from Helsinki and on your trip you will see some ice flows as well as the rest of the scenery offered by Iceland and the Shetland Islands. On one smaller cruise ship, you can completely take on the culture as well. The ship, which holds only 245 passengers is manned by a Finnish crew that will surround you with the Nordic foods and even teach you their heritage dances. If you have ever found your self looking longingly at the National Geographic shows about the wildlife in Iceland or Greenland, why not get away from the vacation rentals and be in the midst of it? By taking a trip out of Reykjavik, Iceland or Svalbard, Greenland you will see this beautiful scenery and may well get to see the wildlife you’ve only seen on TV before such as caribou, lemmings, and polar bears. If all this talk of cold destinations is doing you in, you may want to instead head south of the border. You can take in some culture while you’re at it! There are a number of Mexican cruises out there that in addition to offering you the sun and surf of the region, also will take you to locations of the Mayan Ruins so you can understand the history of this area. There are a seemingly endless series of cruises available to locations such as Peru, Panama, and Belize, counties that are rich with history and scenery, from rainforests to pristine beaches, that you can experience. If you want to see the view from underwater, off the Belize Coast is one of the world’s best reefs for scuba diving and snorkeling. If you are more of the European flair style of person, how about a voyage through the Azores. There are many cruises that will take you to the mid-Atlantic islands of SaŃ… Miguel, Portugal, and Ponta Delgada. If you want the natural experience, there are expeditions that will allow you to get up close to whales and dolphin. And at the end of the day, your floating hotel is waiting with a hot meal. No matter what destination you consider, you should make sure to book early, many of these summer cruises sell out quickly, especially for the more lower priced accommodations.

Hello from sicily a country excursion into the nebrodi mountains to montalbano

Sicily’s scenic beauty continues to amaze me. Yesterday’s excursion by train to the medieval town of Cefalu was just one more example of the stunning urban and rural beauty that this Mediterranean island has to offer. I walked downstairs from my comfortable room in the five-bedroom student apartment to the offices of Laboratorio Linguistico, the Italian language school that provides the rather unusual yet fabulous opportunity to learn Italian on a sailboat. Just last week I had sailed together with six other people through the gorgeous Eolian Islands and studied Italian, just off the coast of Sicily. At the school’s office I met Francesca, the wife of one of the co-owners, who also handles student affairs and logistics, as well as Sonia, a young lady from Switzerland, who handles administrative support for the school. Franco Zodda, the other co-owner of the school, was also there and showed me around the premises. I witnessed a three-person Italian class, saw several classrooms, a lunchroom, and the computer facilities which provide free Internet access to the international language students. Everything was very well organized and the staff is extremely friendly. After exchanging my photos with Francesca I headed off to the supermarket to buy some basic provisions to make myself a lunch. Back at the apartment I met another international language students: Trevor is a 19-year old high school graduate from Cleveland, Ohio, whose great-grandparents emigrated from Sicily, to be more exact, from the Palermo area. Trevor mentioned that he graduated from high school last year and worked the whole year in order to save enough money to go on a seven-month language study trip to learn the language of his forefathers. He was a very well-mannered personable young man who really wanted to learn about the culture of his ancestors. Naturally he was also a bit nervous since he was traveling for the first time away from home, so he asked me basic questions about how the supermarkets work and similar practicalities. I was very touched by this young man’s desire to connect with his roots. My next adventure awaited me at 3 pm: I was invited to go on a local country excursion with Francesco di Santi and Franco Zodda, the two co-owners of Laboratorio Linguistico. Both gentlemen have a language teaching background, and in addition Francesco is a licensed captain, so he runs the language study trips on the sailboat, now in hindsight a truly unforgettable experience. The two Francescos packed me into their car and we started driving past the outskirts of Milazzo into the winding roads of the Nebrodi Mountains. I had already had a chance to discover the interior of Sicily a bit about two weeks earlier during my driving tour around Mount Etna and found that Sicily’s countryside is extremely beautiful. We drove about an hour into the mountains and arrived in an area above the tree line that featured a variety of strange sandstone formations. To me the Rocks of Agrimusco had a natural Stonehenge quality, and they have indeed been used for centuries, maybe even millennia, as places for ritual celebrations. The view from this area was astounding: a 360 degree panorama unfolded that included the Eolian Islands in the north, the continuous mountain chain of the Nebrodi and Peloritani Mountains, running east-west on the north-side of Sicily, and straight south we were looking at the imposing cone of Mount Etna, Europe’s largest volcano. In one word, a magical, enchanting environment. Some of the rocks reminded me of paintings by Salvador Dali, and Francesco pointed out some large, perfectly round inclusions in the rock that looked as if cannon balls had melted into the sandstone. Having grown up in Austria myself, I found myself continuously reminded of the Alps in my birth country and was blown away by the picturesque quality of this island. I commented that Sicily is just totally predestined for unconventional tourism and perfect for hiking, biking, horseback riding and other nature pursuits. Francesco and Franco enlightened me a little about Sicily, its history and its unique character. They explained that hiking is actually not very popular with Southern Italians at all; Francesco joked and said that Sicilians like to drive up to their destination, not walk there. While climbing around the rocks we talked about the mafia and Sicilian mentality. Francesco described Sicilians as individualistic and fatalistic, an interesting combination of traits. My tour guides also educated me about the plant life up here at an altitude of about 2000 m: the tree cover consists of hazelnut, chest nut and cork oak trees, all of which have commercial applications. In addition, they showed me a corral for goats that was made of stone. Franco explained that the goats get herded into these stone enclosures at night which incidentally keeps them safe from foxes and other predators. Shortly after we indeed ran into a huge herd of goats, all of whom looked at me kind of funny when I started snapping pictures of them. Another 20 minutes or so by car later we had arrived at our second destination: Montalbano Elicona, a typical authentic Sicilian mountain village that is perched on a hilltop. We parked our vehicle and started walking through town. The main square opened up around a big church, and on this Monday afternoon, dozens of people were sitting next to the church, in the patios in front of various bars and on benches surrounding the square. Now this was a real Sicilian town without tourists. According to time-honoured Sicilian traditions, the older men sat together on the side of the church, younger women sat on the front steps of the church, children were playing together on the piazza, and older women were hardly to be seen. We walked past the main square to take a little walk through town through narrow cobble-stoned streets that led us up to an ancient castle and old churches. Most of the streets were very quiet and many streets were so narrow that they would be impassable for a vehicle. Back on the main square we ourselves sat down to grab a few refreshments. I was a bit hungry, and the bar we chose had a display case of local fast foods, so I ordered an “arancino di funghi” – a rice ball spiced up with mushroom bits that has a crunchy orange-coloured crust. This little morsel was actually very tasty, and I could have definitely enjoyed a second one, but decided to restrain myself. Ever since I have arrived in Sicily I have been fascinated by these authentic mountain villages that always feature large groups of older men, many of them wearing berets, and animatedly discussing topics of interest, which probably include soccer and politics. So far I had been to shy to take pictures of them, but I asked Francesco to make a request for photos on my behalf. Sure enough, with his Sicilian charm, he explained that an Austro-Canadian traveller was requesting to make some photos of these unique characters and they complied. Some of the gentlemen actually did not want to be photographed and hid their faces behind their neighbour’s head, but the vast majority of them was game and even gave me a smile for my pictures. After finally having snapped some pictures of authentic Sicilians I was very happy and we started to head back towards Milazzo. The sun was already setting and the country houses were bathed in golden light – a fitting ending to an interesting excursion. At 9 pm my tour guides dropped me off at Laboratorio Linguistico’s apartment and I settled in for a quiet night, getting ready for my last full day in Sicily.

Get that vacation he s got a web conference service

There are no more excuses to postpone a trip to the Bahamas at this time of the year. Your partner's office has a web conference service, so what excuse could the big boss have to prevent him from enjoying a week's vacation with you? None. The Good News Is Here Finally, after months of toeing the line, your partner can break free from the office for a week. A web conference service is making lives easier for workers who have to be around for those year-end project reviews and product forecasting for the incoming year. They need not break their back traveling to the central office. They can be virtually present in the upcoming conference, thanks to the availability of a web conference service. Nobody has to slave for the preparation of the conference. They can concentrate on their reports. The service provider for web conferencing will cover several collaborative solutions such as: 1. presenting project details through a PowerPoint presentation. 2. facilitate the sharing of desktop applications when presenting sales content. 3. allow website co-browsing. 4. facilitate the virtual conference. 5. conference can be played back for read-only documentation. There's Still Work To Do But The Romance Is Back Suddenly there is time for romance. So it's not only office work that is facilitated, but personal relationships can also benefit from this collaborative technology. All your partner has to do is prepare his report at the poolside or at the beach house while you're soaking in the sun. After the conference, it's all systems go for both of you. That's how you and other working couples can benefit from a web conference service. But here are some of the preparations he's got to do before the web conference: * Review his PowerPoint presentation. * Check the camera and his angle so he won't be fussing over it when the conference begins. * Make sure his headphone and microphone is in good working condition. * Check the lighting conditions in the hotel room and look for the place where there is less glare. * If he is using a telephone, get the headset model to free his hands during the conference. * Prepare the suit he is going to wear. He still has to dress smart, no matter how enticing it is to wear his XXL tees and cargo shorts. * Let him familiarize himself with the software he is going to use for the conference. You do not want him to give the boss the wrong impression. During the conference, he should observe courtesy as he would in face-to-face conferences. There's nothing like a boor to ruin anybody's day. When it's his turn to give his presentation, remind him to speak in a modulated voice. He does not need to shout. If they can't hear him, they'll tell him or adjust their audio volume. Be glad that the web conference service will take care of the ice breakers and the documentation of the meeting. He can relax with a moderator around to field questions and ensure that everybody will pay attention to his report. The facilitator from the web conference service will also announce if the meeting is over. Then it is time for you and your mate to go dancing or watch the sun dip over the horizon. Now is the time for romance.
